You know that kid that bites, slaps and all the kids run away from. Yep, that's our kid. Poor little Olie. He really isn't trying to be mean. I swear.
So I pick him up from his preschool and this weeks report was......he didn't play very nice with his friends. And, all 3 of the other kids just kept running away from him as they quickly figured out he likes to test out his wrestling skills and jaw muscles on them. Awesome.
Last week it was he whines. Wonder what it will be next week...stay tuned.
Good thing he's cute or we might get booted. ;o)

Our World...
Lately....
Oliver is officially walking. Not a lot but when he feels like it. We are hoping this will reduce the whining and give him some new found independence. He is super proud of himself and even has perfected the clapping and walking routine. Sooo funny.
Both boys attend a 3 hour drop off preschool one day a week. Henry LOVES it. Oliver has been called a...you guessed it...a whiner by his teacher. Which is true. So true in fact that it doesn't bother me that someone else called him that; it actually makes me feel sane and relieved that I'm not the only one that thinks so.
Henry has started the "why" question in overdrive. Literally about 500+ why's a day. I've started to turn it around and say, "why do you think?" That usually works a few times. He even asked his Uncle Tommy, "why the letter i has a dot on it." Uncle Tommy, like me all day long, was finding it hard to come up with an answer. Love his curiosity of the world around him.
Oliver has 8 teeth and a couple killer eye teeth making there way as we speak. I like to blame the teething on his biting issue. Yep, he bites me all the time. I could be washing dishes and he will sneak up behind me and bite the back of my legs. Hurts like heck and I'm finding it hard to change this behavior in a 13 month old. I really do think it's his teeth and he's looking for relief. He doesn't bite other kids...yet. However, he does slap. He slaps his brother, his mother and his cousin Joey. Most of the time it's out of play fullness and he doesn't know his strength but when he's mad at me he flips a switch and he slaps me. Not good. I'm doing my best to address this but he is way too young for time outs. So we do the whole "no" and "gentle" routine. I'm a bit nervous about the road ahead with this strong willed little boy.
Henry loves playing hide and seek and as many have seen on my Facebook page picks some pretty awesome hiding spots...like under his brothers rug with his legs hanging out. Almost peed my pants when I saw him do this for the first time. He also is doing a lot of pretend play in the past month. Chris and I both just love listening to him play with his cars and how each character has a role in his story. He is one creative little boy.
Henry has no interest in potty training at home. However, last week at preschool he asked to use the potty. COULD NOT BELIEVE MY EARS when I picked him up to find this out. So, I'm thinking we need to pick a weekend and go naked all weekend, him not me, and get this potty thing figured out.
Oliver, yes he whines, bites, slaps but you know what he is also the most passionate little love bug ever. He loves to kiss on his mama and I would take all those bites for just one of those amazing kisses. His smile is incredible and just instantly warms my heart. Could not imagine our lives without this vibrant little man.
Oliver can now say ball and is pointing at everything asking (or what we think is asking) what everything is. We are labeling everything and it's so fun to see him take it all in. He has found a new obsession...helicopters and airplanes. He will stop instantly the moment he hears either of them and points to the sky wanting to go see. Definitely another little plane/truck loving little boy I have.
Henry asks to listen/dance to Italian music every time we get into the car. After a few minutes of listening he then asks, "mommy talk like him." I keep trying to explain I can't speak Italian but he is insisting that I can. So, what do I do...I attempt to repeat the "man" on the CD. So glad my husband hasn't caught me doing this yet...pitful example of his Italian homeland. Ha!
All and all life is good. My boys are the light of my life. I feel so lucky to call them my sons. One lucky mama I am!

Lake Chelan 2011
This past weekend we had our first family vacation since Oliver was born. Actually our first family summer vacation period. We rarely get to travel in the summer with Chris' work schedule. Originally we signed up for this Lake Chelan Trip so I could run the Shore to Shore Half Marathon. However, I fell off the training schedule these past few weeks and didn't feel confident I could run in the 95 degree heat plus I was literally up with Oliver until 4am the night before the race. Not a good start and I want to run and not walk. Something about being able to run and check this off my bucket list will be so gratifying. Anyway, more on that later as there are a few upcoming races I am considering signing up for. It ended up being perfect not running as we got to spend the whole day Saturday splashing around in the pool/lake with the boys. So fun! I can't keep dreaming of a Hawaiian vaca with these boys sometime soon. Perfect age and they are typical boys who love to be outdoors, dig in dirt and splash around in the water. Note to self...book HI trip asap! Anyway, here are a few pics from the trip.

A note to my blue eyed prince...
A couple weeks ago Olie hit the big 1 year milestone! As promised, here is the latest and greatest with our wild man!
-You now have 7 teeth with 3 more about to erupt any second.
-You had 5 haircuts all before you turned 1
-Henry often asks me if, “Olie is going to eat any kids today at gym.” Yes, you love to give kisses/chews on anything and anyone.
-You already have a shoe obsession. Lately I have been catching you trying to hold the shoe (doesn’t matter who’s shoe) up to your foot…big improvement from always eating them!
- Speaking of eating…you have learned to use a shovel and not eat the sand. Mama is very happy about this. You are still an incredible eater. Often when you are screaming bloody murder in the car all I have to do is hand you food and you are instantly happy. Hope this trick works for awhile. ;o)
-Your big brother taught you how to blow kisses. CUTEST.THING.EVER! Video coming.
-Speaking of your big brother, you LOVE to copy everything he does from throwing food, hammering, wrestling, drink his milk but not your own…he’s pretty much your hero.
- The instant you hear a helicopter or airplane you stop what you are doing and start pointing to the sky grunting. Still working on the word.
-Crib tent is going to be ordered asap as you are an amazing climber. I expect to find you on the counter top in the cabinet eating hot sauce laughing any day now. Did I mention you found a Tim’s Jalepeno Chip, ate it and it didn’t even phase you. Yep, you are intense. Love it.
-Pretty sure you will give your big bub a run for his money on the baseball field….you love to throw balls and are pretty darn good at it. The dogs have caught on and are now giving you a turn in the good ole fetch game.
-You are still taking steps but not walking. You are one fast crawler so it seems to be your favorite way to get around.
-Your pout face isn't just the bottom lip put as far as you can out but both lips. It's the most delicious little pucker pout face I have ever seen. And, even though we see it way more times a day than we would like it still makes me smile. Trying so hard to get a pic of this face for the books as it is to die for!
-You are sleeping consistently 12 hours at night and take one 1 ½ - 2 hour nap every day. You would likely take more naps if you didn’t have your big bro around to keep you so wired and afraid of missing anything cool we might be doing.
-You love to be upside down and have absolutely no fear. Couldn’t believe my eyes this week as you tried to jump (step) off the edge of a 2 foot mat at gym class this past week.
-Oliver you give the world’s most amazing kisses. I will cherish every last bit of slobber for the rest of my life. I cannot get enough of your loves, your giggles, your crazy legs when you get excited and that precious angelic smile you give the world each and every day. You have completed our family in more ways than I can ever put in words. Mommy, daddy and big bro Henry love you bigger than the sky. Cheers to 1 my little man!

Bro's
These two are hysterical together. I love watching them play, I mean wrestle, every day. They are definitely double trouble lately and every time I leave the room I wonder what I am going to return too, especially if I hear those adorable devious giggles. The new fun thing is jumping into Olie's crib after sleep time to play together. One instant they are snuggling and the next it's a full on wrestle match and Olie more than holds his own. Henry doesn't know what's coming....he has one tough little bro.
