13 Weeks!!!

Well we made it to 13 weeks (well technically tomorrow..but close enough)! So thankful to be jumping into the second trimester with a healthy baby! Today we had one part of the integrated screen complete, which consists of an ultrasound and blood work. The ultrasound was amazing! It was a really long appointment but gave us tons of time to watch the little one move around, suck his thumb (at least thats what it looked like) and lay there with his little legs crossed. Notice I keep saying "he" as we both think this little one is a boy. But, either way we will be very happy. The baby is measuring exactly where he should and everything from the test looked like what the doctors call "normal." The heartbeat was at 155, nice and strong. The ultrasound actually showed the heart beating away, but also you could see the brain developing, the spinal cord and skeletal bones forming. Really incredible the details these tests give you. Overall, we walked away from the appointment feeling very happy and excited! However, I of course couldn't have a ultrasound without a little drama. To sum it up the doctor at the speciality clinic (not my regular OB thank goodness!) made an error in his first diagnosis and gave us quite the scare. He basically read the wrong chart and told us that we were at a high risk of a genetic disorder. However, I just knew in my heart that he was wrong and kept asking questions and probing; basically told him I was going to get a second opinion. Finally after we were in the nurses room getting my blood drawn he stopped back in and apologized and told us he was reading the wrong chart and everything with our baby is perfectly fine. Not extremely happy with our experience with this doctor but I just have to focus on the positive news that in fact everything is just fine with our little one! Phew! Not the best rollercoaster ride I have ever been on thats for sure. Anyway, I got several pictures of the baby but the quality does not do it justice at all. Even the pics I have are way better than the quality of this scan but at least it gives you a sneak peak of Baby Carpinito!

Weekend Filled w/ Lots of Girl Time!

Chris has been gone fishing all weekend and I have kept myself busy with family and friends but am eagerly awaiting him to get back home! I miss my buddy! Anyway, Saturday I attended Alicia's Baby Shower. The Bosik Girls were like sisters Chris and his brothers never had. Alicia and I both are very excited to keep up the family tradition and raise our babies together. She is due at the end of August with baby Ayla Christina Thompson. I just love the name and recently helped welcome my niece into the world who is also an Ayla. Such a strong and beautiful name! I am so excited to meet Alicia's little one.

I also took a couple photos over the weekend to show the little bump that is starting to appear. Nothing too big just yet but it is still very exciting to start watching your belly pop out!

12 Weeks, 2 Days
I also spent Sunday afternoon over lunch with my girlfriends Robynn and Laurel. Laurel is about 2 months ahead of me and just found out she is having a baby boy, which is exactly what they were hoping for so this is very exciting! We decided to keep our bellies out of this photo as we just finished having Mexican food and were oh so full!

And, cant forget to add a pic of Robynn (with Laurel below). My best friend in the world and truly my crutch as well as my roomate when Chris leaves town. She helps fight off the monsters under the bed that still seem to get me worked up. Lol.

12 Weeks!!!!

Finally, we have hit the 12 week mark!!! This is a big day for us! As many of you know after 12 weeks the risk of anything happening is very minimal! Phew! Other than pure joy that we hit 12 weeks there isn't a whole lot to report. Baby seems to be doing great and mom is starting to get some energy back. The past few months I have been so extremely tired but it feels like I am getting a new burst of energy from time to time. However, the nightly trips to the bathroom have been making it a bit hard to get out of bed in the morning. I can't believe how often my bladder needs to relieve itself with a baby so small....can't even imagine what it will be like a few months from now! But, whatever it takes I will do! We are so happy and cant wait until next Thursday as we have a really big appointment. For the first time we will see an ultrasound together and actually get to see a baby and hear the heartbeat at the very same time. Once we wrap up the appointment I will update you all and try to upload the ultrasound pic. Anyway, looking forward to enjoying the weekend and getting one step closer to next week! Until next time...send us good wishes! We will do the same for you all! XOXO

First Trimester Update

As I approach the end of my first trimester I cant help to think how time has flown by so quickly. While at times it has felt like it has taken forever to get to a place where I can share my news and celebrate this journey with all of you it also feels like time has been going at lightning speed! Chris and I couldnt be more excited than we are right now. We found out we were pregnant on May 22nd, just about 4 weeks along and after 3 negative pregnancy tests the days approaching the 22nd I decided I probably wasn't pregnant and set out to buy a nice bottle of wine. However, something was telling me just take one last test before you crack open that bottle, and to my surprise I read "Pregnant." Needless to say that bottle of wine is still sitting on my wine rack waiting for a very long time until mom can enjoy it! Since that day we have had several visits with my doctor, who at times seems like he is becoming a part of the family after all the time we have spent together in the past year. At 7 weeks we had our first ultrasound and everything was perfectly placed in the right spot and looking good! At 10 weeks I happened to get a patch of bug bites on one leg after sitting outside enjoying the sunshine at a girlfriends house and ran into the doctor to get something to help the swelling and itch and I ran into my OB since he is in the same office as my primary care physician. He offered to take me back and hear the heartbeat and of course I couldnt resist! So, for the first time I was able to hear my babies heart beating away through my belly! Technology really is amazing! We had a more thorough appointment yesterday and once again was able to hear the strong heartbeat (about 150) loud and clear! Really the most incredible sound I have ever heard come out of my body...lol! At this point the doctor has basically told me we are out of the woods and having this baby! I am looking forward to jumping into our next trimester and really being able to take a deep breath. I truly believe with all of my heart that this is it! We really are having a baby! As my belly grows I am sure it will hit home even a bit more. Until next time, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
