I finally found three reasons why maternity pants are actually a benefit.
1. Most of the pants don't have a zipper so I don't have to worry about whether I zipped up my pants..especially after my belly gets bigger and I can't see down there. This will help prevent any embarrasing moments in the office. However, this can get confusing when I wear my fancy jeans that do have a zipper...
2. Since pregnancy makes you have sudden and frequent trips to go potty, the slip on and off elastic band is fantastic! No buttons/zippers to hold me up! In and out in a flash!
3. I actually have found that all the nice designer jeans I purchased are SUPER long and I actually might have to get them hemmed. I know...never happens when you have a 36 inseam like me!

Results Are In
I just got off the phone with my doctor and they received my results from the integrated screen. For those of you not familiar this is two blood draws and an ultrasound to determine your risk for chromosome defects like down syndrome. The first tests are done around 13 weeks and the follow up was completed about 15.5 weeks. And my results are perfect! We are in the clear and have absolutely nothing to worry about! I wasn't worried at all but it's nice to just receive the confirmation. So, here we are 17 weeks and just 3 weeks away from finding out the sex and enjoying life!

It's official!
The new mom mobile is now 100% ours! It feels like this is the first step of many of getting ready for Baby Carpinito! I really love it and am so excited to get used to all the fun new gadgets. It even has a back up rearview camera that displays on the flatscreen in the dash when you reverse. One extra safety meaure to ensure you can see everything behind you, which makes me feel a bit prepared for when I have little ones running around! On another note, we are selling my BMW so if you know anyone in the market let me know!
As for the baby we are now officially 17 weeks! No news on my last blood draw yet but as far as I am concerned no news is good news. Typically they don't send you results in the mail unless they are perfecto! Anyway, for those of you that know me oh so well you wouldn't be surprised to know that I have already created my excel spreadsheet with all the must have's and house projects! Lots to do and in just a few more weeks I will have reached the half way mark!

New ride....well almost
We got a new car today! Well it's 99% closed and technically I haven't seen it yet but the check is signed and we should get to pick it up by tomorrow. Chris and I have been test driving Acura MDX's for the past couple weeks and finally found a screaming deal! We were actually able to purchase a 2005 Silver/Black Leather Interior MDX through a dealer's auction. Which means we got well below wholesale price and walked away with a beautiful car in amazing condition! Chris was able to preview it yesterday and we set our bid with the dealer who then made it happen! The next step is the used car inspection. So, as long as that goes well then it is ours! Super excited!
I still haven't figured out if I call it a car or truck. I know it's a SUV but people don't say SUV when they refer to their "cars" do they? Seems strange. Chris keeps calling it a truck and I say car...guess that's because he has had trucks his whole life and I have always had a car. Funny how you get used to certain things. Anyway, I will post a pic as soon as it is officially in my driveway.
As for the baby, he/she is doing great! We are 17 weeks on Friday and everything is going really well. I actually think I may have felt my first movement this week but am not 100% sure since I don't really have anything to compare it too. They say it's like a flutter/gas bubble and I felt something very similar to that but still different enough for me to wonder if that was the baby kicking me! We only have 3 more weeks to go until we find out the sex! The last couple days we have been debating on whether we will find out or not but who am I kidding...I am such a planner it will drive me nuts if I don't find out. Anyway, that's it for now. Hope you are all doing well!

16 Weeks!
I had my monthly check up with the doctor this past week and everything is going just perfect! I am now considered a "normal" patient and will only go in once a month until I get closer to my due date. Very exciting to get to a regular pace but will be an adjustment for me as I am used to having frequent check ins with the doctor and being able to hear the babies heartbeat. Our next appointment is Sept. 15th (a little after 20 weeks) and we will find out the sex! Many people say you start to have a feeling of the sex of the baby but I can honestly say I have no clue! When I visualize our baby I do see a blonde curly haired little girl but I think that's because that's what I looked like and I have nothing else to compare the baby to. Either way we will be very happy! We just want a healthy baby.
I did have my last blood draw this week and will have final results next week. So far everything is perfect and I don't expect this to change but will certainly let you know as we get our final results.
As for the car situation, my car is fixed and we are going to clean it up this weekend and put it on the market! Chris' negotiation skills came in handy as he got BMW to pay for the parts as it was apparent it was their fault but it took a little work on his part but saved us 2K! We also test drove a MDX yesterday and really liked it but we found another great deal on a Ford Expedition that is really hard to pass up. It's in immaculate condition and the price is amazing! I am headed there this afternoon to have a test drive and then we will see what kind of trade in value we might get and determine if it's worth it to sell privately instead. Very exciting to start looking at the mom mobiles! So long sports car...at least until the kids are in college! Lol!

15 weeks!
I just had to share with you all how lucky I feel. Last night I noticed I missed a phone call from my doctor's office and immediately felt a bit of nerves as I am not expecting to hear from them until my appointment on Tuesday. So, I proceeded to check my voicemail and sure enough there was a message from my nurse Tony. She is my doctors dedicated nurse and I LOVE HER! Anyway, she just left me a message to check in and tell me they were thinking of me and to call them if I needed anything. She said she trusted I would call her if anything was wrong but wanted to remind me that I am in there thoughts and they look forward to seeing me on Tuesday. Now what doctor/nurse team does that!?! It's not their job to remind me of my appointments as I get a call from the receptionist for that. They went out of there way to make me feel special. Yes, I am blessed. When I say that my doctor has at times felt like he has become a part of the family I am not kidding. They truly care about me and the entire team is pulling for us. I really trust my life, my childs life and our future family with this "family" I have found. Truly a blessing.

Well into my Second Trimester!
14 weeks 2 days and going strong! Friday I stopped in Nordies on the way home and for the first time a complete stranger noticed my baby bump. It really took me by surprise as I thought I just looked like I gained some weight but I guess it is starting to look like more of a prego belly! Which is exactly what I am hoping for. :o)
I don't go back to the doctor until next week and am eagerly awaiting the appointment so I can hear our babies heart beating away again! I find myself constantly staring at the ultrasound pictures and trying visualize what this little one is going to look like. I am sure he/she is going to be just perfect! I so look forward to hold our baby in my arms. And if you know me you can bet I have already begun my planning to get prepared! However, we did have a bump in the road this weekend that hopefully wont set us back too much financially. My car broke down on I-5 on Saturday morning headed to see my parents in Seattle. Thankfully I was able to make it off to the side of the road and my parents were just about 15 minutes away. Robynn kept me calm (which probably wasnt the easiest task as I thought my car was going to blow up...a little over dramatic!) Once my rescue team showed up I really felt thankful it happend when and where it did as we all walked away safely. It was the first time I really felt protective of my baby. It wasnt just about me anymore. All very scary to literally have your car stop, be pregnant and feel stranded on the side of the road on the major freeway in Seattle. I find it funny that I still place my first phone call to my mom when I am in crisis mode. I still havent trained myself to call my husband to come help me out. I have spent so many years with my mom at my rescue that I just kick in autopilot. It really is incredible the relationship you develop with your parents. My mom is definitely my hero and I just hope that I can raise my children to feel the amount of love, provide a sense of safety and strength my mom has shown me. Love you mommy! :o)
As for my poor car, it is sitting in the driveway waiting to be taken to the doctor. Sure hope this bill isn't too big as we are planning to trade it in! Guess that is going to happen a lot sooner than we anticipated. I must say I am happy to get the new mom mobile! We are fairly certain we are going to get a Acura MDX. They are highly rated and one of the safest midsize SUV's you can have. But, we'll see. More to come on this....but until then I will be driving a work truck. Which I am actually having fun driving..for now.
