Weekend Rewind

I had a jammed packed weekend! Friday and Saturday was the Bellevue High Reunion and I have to say I was a bit nervous about the whole thing but in the end I had a blast! It was so great to catch up with old friends. In many ways it felt like time has not moved too much. It made me really thankful for the amazing experience I had in high school and a great way to rekindle old friendships that are so special. Chris fit right in and made friends very easily..imagine that. But, to top it off at the end of the night on Saturday we were getting ready to leave and I was wrapping up chatting with a friend’s wife and somehow my glass hit my belly and went crashing to the floor. Needless to say the glass went into a million little pieces and cut my leg on the way down. I am fine, it was only little cuts but it made my leg bleed really bad. Of course I had to make some sort of grand exit…geeze! It was actually pretty funny that the sober pregnant woman was the first one to make the party foul. Guess I don’t realize just how big my belly is! Good thing everyone there has seen me take a tumble, run into a wall or slip down a parking lot at some point in my life. Not uncommon for me to take a spill, which a few people had to remind Chris of a few of those stories. Now I will never ditch the nickname he gave me as “clumsy!”

On another note, my mother-in-law Carol and I spent Sunday working on the nursery. We found the perfect rug and she helped me nail down the bedding for the crib. I picked out fabric and am having the bedding made. Super excited to see the final results! It takes about 10 weeks so we had to get on this one quickly. We also got all the cream painting complete (ceiling, closet, doors, etc.)..the not so fun part but it is looking great! My parents and Carol are going to wrap up painting next weekend (adding the slate blue and choc brown)! I can’t wait to see the final result and start actually getting furniture in there. We decided on espresso furniture. I just can't wait to get it all cozy and ready for the little man. My goal is to have it mostly complete prior to Thanksgiving. I just want to enjoy the holidays with the family and not worry about putting the baby’s room together.

Anyway, enjoy the week. Here are a couple old high school pics that make me laugh. Once I get some from the reunion I will add these as well.

Yes those are overalls....so stylin'

Quick update

Just got home from my 24 week check in with the doc and all is good! I got to hear his heartbeat again (about 150)! He even kicked for the doctor a couple times. Everything is going so perfectly. The doc even told me that I am right on track and doing great with the weight gain...phew! I did grow quite a bit more in the last 4 weeks but I guess that is normal since the baby starts packing on fat now too. I have one more monthly appointment (28 weeks) and then will start going every 2 weeks. The yucky glucose testing is next appointment...not looking forward to that! Anyway, enjoy the sunshine and have a wonderful weekend!

24 weeks and counting!

Today we hit the 24 week mark and things are moving right along. Yesterday I attended my first baby class. Chris and I are signed up for a 4 week series on childbirth preparation at the end of November but I am also taking a few free classes offered through Microsoft. Yesterday the class was called "Your Newborn Baby." It was a great session to learn some basics but really the Q&A was so helfpul. I was able to listen to other mothers concerns but more importantly ask some of those questions you can't find any answers to in books...you know the ones you feel silly asking. We'll it was the perfect venue to get some anxiety settled. I have a few more classes outside of the childbirth prep that I am taking between now and January. Some people say you don't need all these extra courses but if you are like me I like to know at least somewhat of what I am getting into and research helps soothe my nerves. You can't prepare for everything but this is really helping me build a foundation.

Also, after work I stopped by my parents house to have dinner and see them off for Jackson Hole. Our little guy (whom we are still calling Henry but haven't locked on that name just yet) was being so good. He was kicking up a storm for his nana. I really just can't get enough of him and sharing his movements with others. I am off to the doctor this afternoon and will share any more updates later.

Enjoy the weekend! I am headed to my high school reunion! Looking forward to catching up with friends from the past. Cheers!

"Go-Getter" or "Sweetheart"

I received an email from my girlfriend Kristina (Dett) today that had a list of the astrological signs and it got me thinking, wonder what our little man is predicted to be like. Based on our due date he will likely be an Acquaries but if he comes early could also be a Capricorn. Either way he will be perfect I just know it! ;o)

Here is the brief descriptions:

CAPRICORN - The Go-Getter (Dec 22 - Jan 19) Patient and wise. Practical and rigid. Ambitious. Tends to be Good-looking. Humorous and funny. Can be a bit shy and reserved. Often pessimistic. Capricorns tend to act before they think and can be unfriendly at times. Hold grudges. Like competition. Get what they want.

AQUARIUS - The Sweetheart (Jan 20 - Feb 18) Optimistic and honest. Sweet personality. Very independent. Inventive and intelligent. Friendly and loyal. Can seem unemotional. Can be a bit rebellious. Very stubborn, but original and unique. Attractive on the inside and out. Eccentric personality.

Sharing the love...

Today was a bit of a rough day. Aside from getting a cold a couple weeks ago this was the first day that I didnt feel so hot from just being pregnant. I have been pretty lucky so far and havent had any sickness but today reminded me that some days may be a bit harder than others moving forward. But, after a day full of rest by dinner time I think our little guy was ready to be a bit more active as mom was pretty low key all day. We had family dinner for two of Chris brothers birthdays at Grandpa Dan's house and Baby Carpinito was sure sharing his love tonight. Uncle Andy was the first one aside from Chris to feel him kick. Andy's expression was priceless. I wish I had a camera as it was pretty darn cute. Next up, after dinner Dan's long time girlfriend Johanna put her hands on my bare belly and literally within seconds he kicked. Not bad for one night...two family members getting to feel our little guy practice his moves. Great to share the love with others and watch their expressions...pretty amazing.

First Purchase...120 days to go!

I finally made my first purchase (aside from clothes) to prepare for the little guy, and I found "the" diaper bag! I decided I wanted a more traditional bag and a bag that could also be worn as a backpack. After a friend recommended the Ju-Ju-Be line I fell in love with the "Pack a Be Bag". It's chocolate brown with a touch of blue and has easy access pockets, super organized and transitions from a shoulder bag to a backpack in a flash. I just love it! Can't wait for it to arrive.

What's Kickin'

This evening our little man has been really active! It has been by far the most kicking I have felt yet. I actually for the first time not only felt the kicks but on one occasion he got me so good that I actually saw my belly move through my shirt! Crazy and amazing at the same time! At that point I called Chris over immediately and he waited patiently to feel his little boy for the first time. He didn't have to wait long as he was able to feel repeated kicks in a row. So glad daddy was finally able to feel his little guy. This just makes me even more excited to meet this little bugger!
